Do you have a “uniform”?

by lauren on February 21, 2013

No. 1 H&M Jacket / No. 2 J. Crew Tee / No. 3 Essie Lollipop / No. 4 Opelle handbag / No. 5 J Brand Distressed Skinny Jeans (here) and (here)/ No. 6 Marc Jacobs watch / No. 7 Balenciaga wrap bracelet / No. 8 TOPSHOP ballet flats

As creative as I try to be, I often find myself wearing the same combinations on the weekend.  To be honest, after 5 days straight of waking up early and taxing my brain for an appropriate and cute outfit for the workday, I am a bit tired of thinking and I tend to go on auto-pilot on the weekends.  I know what I like, I know what looks good on me, and I wear the heck out of it until it’s time for a new cycle.  Lately, I have been wearing stripes and jeans, sweaters and boots…. namely a navy and white Banana Republic long-sleeve, usually with a navy v-neck J.Crew sweater over top, a pair of jeans, and neutral booties.

While the prep in me loves that combination, I am starting to get a little bored with my current “weekend uniform” and am ready to move onto a new easy weekend look — enter the look above. When Gaby featured me in her new Closet Series on Tuesday, I noted that my favorite color combo is army green, black, and denim. Isn’t it so chic but still really “it’s the weekend and I’m comfortable”?  You all know I couldn’t stop wearing the Old Navy green vest over the Summer, and I just picked up a similar jacket, so I see plenty of outfits like the one above in my future!

I am interested to know if I am alone or if others operate with similar habits on the weekend.  Do you have a weekend uniform or do you normally mix it up?

P.S.  Other ways to style a grey tee here, and a few more green vest outfits here and here!

Love this outfit and I definitely have a “uniform” on weekends – very similar to this, actually! I always want to look pulled together, even if I’m just going grocery shopping…and this look is perfect! :)

My obsession with gray v-necks is a bit out of control — but I wear them all the day. Definitely part of my go-to uniform!

I def have a weekend look and it, too, revolves around a gray (or any color) v neck like that. And in the winter I get crazy and venture to the long sleeve v neck.

Most definitely! I have the same problem, I’m just so tired of corporate wear on the weekends that I gravitate towards easy basics. My go-to is a chambray shirt, white jeans, and suede booties.

Wonderful posts of late! Thank you, Lauren. The Style Staples have been so informative.

I do not have a uniform. I have a style catalog in my closet. I spend one day styling my clothes for the season (tossing, cleaning out, changing seasonal items) then I photograph the outfits, print the photos and put those In a mini album (my catalog). I am not visual so coming up with outfits on a busy morning does not work for me. The visual reference catalog does! But I will think about a uniform for next season!

This is what I do for all of my clients, too! I am (pleasantly) surprised that you take the initiative to do that for yourself every season. You are awesome!
