Trends to Try

November 8, 2012

When it comes to trends, I approach cautiously.  There are some that, after some consideration, I believe are worth the extra money to choose a quality item; however, there are others that I just can’t justify spending a ton on, and will instead settle for a budget version.  Today I wanted to share 4 trends that you may be interested in trying, at multiple price points, to show you that you don’t have to spend a ton of money to try something new in your wardrobe!

Printed Ankle Pants are popping up all over the place.  While I really like the splurge version from J. Crew, Target also offers an interesting black and white print at a fraction of the price of the J. Crew pant.  Old Navy also has a really cute printed pant that I have seen Gaby modeling, and it will work both now and again in the Spring.

Embroidered Flats have been around in the preppy crowd for years, but are just now making their way into the mainstream.  Stubbs and Wooten charges an absurd $400 for the skull flats above, but luckily the Gap comes to the rescue with a similar pair for only $40.

Graphic Sweatshirts have become all the rage in the blog-land lately.  While I enjoy the trend and all that Zoe Karssen has given to the graphic tee and sweatshirt world, I can’t justify $140.  Forever 21 has done a (infringement-worthy) version of the Love sweatshirt in sweater form, if you’re interested in the trend but only want to spend a little.

Western Ankle Boots are really worth every penny, so I vote for the splurge here (and these splurge Sam Edelman boots are only $112)!  However, these Forever 21 ankle boots are really well made and comfortable.  I tried them on yesterday and considered buying them because they were so affordable ($33), but talked myself out of adding another pair to my already too-large collection.
