Pop of Yellow

June 19, 2012

So happy to be back on the blog after a week of lovely guest posts while I was on vacation!  I am excited to share one of the outfits I wore on vacation in La Jolla last week!  The sun only peaked out a few days during our trip, so I thought it necessary to take matters into my own hands.  We were headed out to dinner at Whisknladle (if you’re in the San Diego area, I highly recommend it), so I wanted to get a little bit dressed up for our one “fancy” night out.

I packed this gorgeous yellow Madewell blouse because I knew it would look great paired with any of the bottoms I packed for the trip.  I ended up pairing the yellow blouse with my $11 Forever 21 skinny jeans and grabbed my Target scarf to throw over my shoulders at night. (A bit of an aside: I will tell you that although I think $98 for a sleeveless blouse is a bit pricey, this top is completely worth it.  Gorgeous color, sturdy silk, doesn’t wrinkle very easily.  A definite buy in my book, especially with my new buying philosophy).  I kept things simple with my makeup and accessories: red lips, red nail polish, and some gold accessories.  This outfit might look familiar from my Madewell event, where I styled a very similar look but with white jeans instead!

Top: Madewell // Jeans: Forever 21 // Shoes: Zara (old) // Scarf:  Target (check your local store)

Ring: Etsy Seller Street Bauble // Bracelets:  Mae Badiyan & David Yurman // Watch: DKNY

Clutch:  Forever 21 (very similar) // Nails:  OPI Big Apple Red

Super fabulous! I wish I were better at getting quality investment pieces like this blouse – I really want to spend more on less, but sometimes it feels like too much pressure to choose when you’re buying one worth-it blouse instead of several cheaper options… This one definitely looks like a winner though.
