First Purchase

April 13, 2012

Easter has come and gone and my self-imposed “No Shop Lent” is over!  I haven’t gone totally nuts with purchases, but I did pick up a few essentials that will be helpful as I continue to edit my wardrobe.  My intention is to stop buying cheap or “fun” things and hone in on staple pieces of good quality.  With that in mind, my first purchase this week was a pair of white jeans — I had a few minutes to pop into the J. Crew factory store earlier this week, spotted these, and after a quick try-on, I knew they were coming home with me.  Although a bit tight in the legs, I saw Gaby’s post earlier this week and reminded myself they WILL stretch out a bit  (as is the usual case with stretch denim).

I’ve already got tons of outfit ideas planned – I did a little brainstorming earlier today and was really excited to think of all of the combinations I will make over the next 4 months (or so).

Here are a few simple combinations I am already considering:

White Jeans + Camel Sweater + Red Blazer + Leopard Belt + Black Heels

White Jeans + Navy Sweater layered over Navy Striped Shirt + Camel Blazer + Neutral Heels

White Jeans + Orange Peplum Tank + Dainty Gold Necklace +  Brown Wedges

White Jeans + Gingham Shirt (knotted) + Brown Sandals

And lastly, one I plan to wear this weekend:

In case you need a little help thinking about how you’ll style your white jeans, see some past ideas Here and Here!

Hope you have the most sunny of weekends {you know, the kind worthy of white denim}, wherever you’ll be. Xoxo.

Yay – you made it! Love those white jeans – I have a cropped skinny pair, but would really love some full-length ones and some flare-legs. Great outfit brainstorming too! :)

I might pick up a pair of flared jeans too…. would look great with sky high wedges. Thanks for the comment!

First, congrats on making it through “No Shop Lent”. Second, I have been thinking about white jeans and I LOVE what is happening here!! I am making a clothes shopping list as I type.

Thanks babs! You should definitely get some white jeans for Summer… will look nice with the new shoes you picked up yesterday!

I’m so glad you jumped on board with white denim. After styling mine with several pieces, I noticed they’re actually really versatile. I have to refrain from wearing them too much, haha.

Have a lovely weekend Lauren :)

This post was the perfect followup to my comment yesterday! I was really dying to see what you bought. I too am on the hunt for white jeans. I bought a pair at H&M last week but took them home and they just were too high-waisted. I’m actually going to the outlets tomorrow with my mom so I’ll look for those J.Crew ones – they look like just what I’m looking for! Also, can’t wait to see pics of that outfit you pulled together – it’s a beauty!

Such a great purchase! And I’m so jealous of your ON vest – I missed it when it was in stores!

that’s so funny, I also didn’t shop during lent. And it really helped me, before I couldn’t decide what I want and what not, and this week I went just very quickly to the city after work (and the shops close at 8pm in Germany, so I had about two hours) and already found quite some things I loved and bought! And during my no-shopping-time, I made up a little list of things that I miss in my closet – and the with the first things I bought I really sticked to this list 😉
Why did you do a no shopping lent?

I wanted to do something that would be hard for me, and I knew giving up shopping would be a challenge. It really was. I didn’t realize how often I just picked up a little thing here or there! I think I saved a good chunk of money by restraining myself for 40 days!

Fun first pick! I really need to get my hands on some white denim!

  • Gaby [The Vault Files]

Yay! You’ll love them! They are so comfortable! Happy you remembered about the stretch 😉

  • Andi

    LOVE them!

  • peggy

Nice! I have white flares, and would love some like these too!
