Mixing Prints

March 12, 2012

On Friday night, we decided last minute to run out for some lent-friendly seafood and I had about 5 minutes to get ready (but in girl-time 5 minutes is probably more like 15…..), so I put on a comfortable outfit and put my hair up in a high bun to get it out of my face.  (a quick aside: speaking of my hair – I am getting it cut on Wednesday – it is seriously cramping my style lately.  Any ideas?  Maybe a new color is in order….. I’d love your thoughts! ) In terms of the outfit, I decided to wear a black and white striped tank, black jeans, and brown boots, so I pulled out an infinity scarf that has a mixture of black, brown, and yellow to add another element to my outfit.  Mixing prints might seem a lot more challenging to some than it really is.  I think the key to mastering mixing of prints is to keep the colors in the same family (or if you really don’t care, throw caution to the wind and mix prints with reckless abandon – it is YOUR outfit, after all).

Sweater: Target | Tank: Urban Outfitters | Scarf: Urban Outitters (old) | Jeans: Zara (Similar)

Boots: Aldo (old) | Purse: Target (in black) | Yellow Bracelet: Target (recent)

P.S…. I have an exciting giveaway coming up on Wednesday from Hat Attack!  Make sure to check the blog on Wednesday for outfit photos and the giveaway!

Such a cute casual outfit – you can’t go wrong mixing stripes & leopard! I just got my hair cut on Saturday, too – didn’t have the guts to chop it, but I did get the ends trimmed and have her add some swingy layers…it’s amazing what just a little change can do!

5 minutes is totally 15 minutes in girl time. Ha!!!

I love mixing stripes with leopard. Such a cute look.

You are cute and those pics make me miss you to pieces. As for your hair, I am torn. You love the bun and pony, so I’d hate to see it too short, but once upon a time (circa 2008) when it was shoulder length it was really pretty.

I’m still trying to figure out the best way to mix prints! Good advice! Cute look!

Very cute ! How come I never look that good in 15 minutes?? As for the hair, I agree with Allison about the shoulder length, that was really cute…but it’s your hair, must be comfortable with your decision ! No matter what you will look adorable :)

Could you give some washing tips? The stuff you buy from target you stylize great, i recently bought a great cardigan from there but now im scared the wash because some of my target stuff seems not to hold up well. Also i think you should cut your hair shorter! Maybe still long enough to put in a pony but i think you would look cute with a shorter stylish cut!
