Seeing Spots

March 5, 2012

Animal print is one thing that is just not getting old for me!  I think I love it so much because it is still classy enough to wear to the office, but allows me to show my personality and differentiate myself from others (my office is generally  a sea of solid colors, or at its boldest day there are some stripes).  As I’ve mentioned before, making outfits interesting is a fine art of 1) layering and  2) mixing textures to create an overall more appealing-to-the-eye look, while still maintaining a level of put-togetherness.  I feel ladylike, classy, and fun in this look so that’s how I know it’s fitting for me.  As I grow older, my personal style is becoming so much more apparent to me – and it’s exciting!  Do you feel like you’ve found your personal style yet?  I think it takes a bit of introspection and don’t try to “fit in” !  Go with your gut!

Blouse: J Crew Tuxedo – Old / Sweater: Old Navy – Fall ’11 (Similar in Cardigan)/ Skirt: Banana Republic Outlet (Similar) / Shoes: Nine West – purchased 2010

Necklace: Bauble Bar – Sold Out / Clutch: Urban Outfitters / Ring: Street Bauble / Nail Polish:  Forever21 Taupe / Sunglasses: Ralph Lauren

(don’t you love my squinty hater-face here? the sun actually came out!)

This last photo shows our neighborhood in the background… I love driving up this street and seeing our row of homes set in front of the sprawling city – they just look so tiny in front of the huge buildings of downtown Cincinnati!  Anyway – hope you are all off to a good week!

    I completely agree with you – when I was younger, I wasn’t as sure of my style, but now that I’m in my 30’s…I definitely have a better sense of what works for my body type & the silhouettes I am drawn to. Love this sweater, btw!!

    Lauren, I am LOVING your outfit posts, and your hair is so long now! I definitely agree with you on the finding your personal style bit. I was just telling Kyle the other day that I have a lot fewer “I have nothing to wear days” now that I know more what I like to wear and what looks good on me.

    • Lauren {Stylized Existence}

      Thanks Shannon! I know, my hair has gotten sooo long – I actually just got it cut a few weeks back. Would love to see some outfit posts of your own! SO GLAD you are blogging again!
