Winter Remix: Part 2

February 15, 2012

First of all, I just wanted to say thank you for your comments on my post yesterday.  It felt good to put a little bit of my personal thoughts and insecurities out in the open so that I can have you all hold me accountable in the future.  So from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Now, onto the lighter stuff!  As I mentioned on Monday, I submitted two different looks to Jessica Quirk’s Winter Remix Challenge, based around the styling of the orange blouse I bought at H&M last weekend.  Today, I wanted to share the second of the two looks, which is more of a subdued office-appropriate look.  And just to put this out there BEFORE the thought enters your brain, if you’re adverse to wearing white or cream in winter, get over it! White/cream can ABSOLUTELY be worn in winter, as long as you style it appropriately.  For me, that means covering up my equally white legs.  The tights also serve as a bold contrast to the skirt, so the whole look is a bit color-blocked, and I like it that way because it feels more interesting to me.  I paired the skirt and top with an easy fish-tail braid (that is one thing that I can do to my own hair) and a vintage necklace I found on Etsy.  On my feet, I wore my most favorite shoes ever (yes, ever).  They’re about 3 years old, t-strap, and tortoise shell, and I’ve really not seen anything like them since I purchased them, so I will continue to take care of these babies because the world might crash down around me when they are no longer wearable!

Blouse: H&M (recent) / Skirt: stolen from my sister’s closet / Tights: Old Navy / Shoes: Nine West / Necklace : vintage via Etsy

Hey! I was wondering where that skirt was 😉 LOVE this look. So fun yet office appropriate.

P.S. It’s a shame I don’t get to visit YOUR closet very often or you might have tons of stuff missing!
